I'm getting a bit frustrated

Do I have to have a Flickr account to do a mash-up? I tried a couple of things but nothing was generated. The spelling by image won't even come up. I went to the next activity and still I am clueless as to how to proceed and they don't give me much help. I put text into a comic strip and clicked upload but nothing uploaded. Sorry if I seem dense but this is not fun.

My Friend Flickr

Ok, I've played around in Flickr. I have not done anything with a Flickr account because I don't have a digital camera. But I seached and found some pretty neat stuff. I looked for a picture of the Grapevine Train Station with the Homecoming statue and found a few. And then I found some pictures of Barton Seagrave in Northampton Shire. It looks like a pretty place. And I've found some pictures of the Lumbee Indian reunion in North Carolina. Not to mention pictures of the neighborhood in Chicago known as Bronzeville. It would take too long to explain why I would be interested in all those different places, but I am and it was a kick to be able to see them from pictures taken and posted by so many people who just wanted to share them.

Web 2.0 & Library 2.0

"Fascinating," to quote Mr. Spock. I do genealogy online and find that I can use the web environment to very good effect. I have found that I can go into documents online through Google and find information on an ancestor from the 1500's in Northamptonshire, England. I can go to Wikipedia and find information on a tiny village in Northamptonshire where that ancestor was supposed to have lived. I can see an aerial view of that village.

But bringing this back to libraries, they have been one of the primary information sharing "tools" of civilization for thousands of year now but I don't know that I can picture how they will integrate into web just yet. Maybe I don't have to. Maybe I simply have to look at what is happening and understand it. Libraries do have a presence on the web but maybe the "23" things is looking at ways to put librarians out there too.

Well I suppose that was pretty vague maundering on my part. We'll see.

First Post

Well, I found out that I knew a bit about setting up a blog. I already had an account here because I've been posting to The Fort Worth Library's blog, Feast On Books, for the past few months. I haven't played very much with my own blog yet, layout or settings, stuff like that.
